IABC Triangle Welcomes New Board Member
Please welcome Abbie Kiefer, IABC Triangle’s newest board member who will be serving as the Vice President of Professional Development. In this role, she will plan all of IABC Triangle’s professional development activities in 2010. Abbie is a freelance independent consultant who previously worked as an account executive at the Catevo Group. Abbie will be replacing Larry Miller, our former Vice President of Professional Development, who will be moving to the Washington, D.C. area for a new job.
Larry has done a fabulous job locating and securing speakers for our monthly professional development programs for the past three years. His enthusiasm and connections throughout the Triangle's communications industry will be sorely missed. Please join all of us in wishing Larry the best of luck in his new endeavors in our nation's capital.

Congrats to Jane Albright on IABC Accreditation
A hearty congratulations goes to local IABC Triangle member, Jane Albright, for her recent achievement in obtaining IABC accreditation. With encouragement from her boss, Jane has made a great investment in herself. Commenting on the accreditation process, Jane said, “The accreditation process was not necessarily easy. But it was certainly worthwhile.”
Jane is graciously volunteering to coach IABC Triangle members who are considering the accreditation process. First, members must visit the IABC accreditation web site to ensure they qualify for accreditation. Jane will coach members on portfolio preparation and studying for the exams. Jane also recommends entering a project into the IABC Gold Quill awards to gain insight into IABC’s philosophy for planning and measuring against goals. For cost saving measures, Jane recommends that accreditation exams be taken locally. Members should budget approximately $300 for the entire process.

IABC Triangle Needs Volunteers
IABC Triangle needs volunteers for the membership, professional development and marketing committees. Volunteering does NOT require a big time commitment. It offers a great way to develop skills in areas outside of your current professional role. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact one of the following board members:
Shannon Helm for the membership committee at shannonh@nc.rr.com
Abbie Kiefer for the professional development committee at abbie@abbiekiefer.com
Mary Hecht-Kissell for the marketing committee at maryhk@pr-strategies.com.
