IABC Triangle Monthly Professional Development Meeting
Social Media at SAS

Join IABC Triangle along with David B. Thomas, SAS’s social media manager, and Becky Graebe, SAS’s internal communications manager, for an educational talk about how SAS, a leading business analytics software company, leverages the power of social media for internal and external communications. David Thomas will cover how SAS developed its social media strategy, got buy-in from key executives and created its social media guidelines for employees. Becky Graebe will cover SAS’ experience creating an internal blogging program and how SAS has integrated social media into its internal communications. Join in this lively discussion on how SAS deals with the challenges and concerns of employee participation in social media, a  large and relatively ungovernable form of communications.

Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Time: 12:00 p.m. for networking and lunch; program will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Location: SAS Institute, Building F, Room 101

IABC Worldwide Membership Month

September is IABC’s Worldwide Membership Month. This means that new or lapsed members who join or re-join IABC, will not have to pay the application fee (up to a $40 savings). Visit here to renew your membership.

Recognizing that the economy is causing financial hardship for many, IABC now offers several ways to help make membership dues more affordable. You can get a hardship extension of two to six months or choose to pay your dues in four monthly installments. Contact service_centre@iabc.com for details about these and other ways to save.

Networking Luncheons – A Great Success

IABC Triangle’s networking luncheon, held on August 18th, was a great success. It was a great opportunity for IABC members to network and share insights on their different communication roles.

We are considering hosting another networking luncheon in the next quarter. Please share your ideas on the best location (e.g., RTP, Durham or Cary) and any restaurant recommendations via an email to Shannon Helm at shannonh@nc.rr.com.
