IABC January Program: Loco for Local Media
Economic turmoil. Global warming. Foreign wars. With all that
is going on, how can you possibly get the media's attention, short of
creating your own scandal?
The News & Observer's Senior Business Reporter Jonathan
B. Cox and Capstrat's Senior Vice President and Director of Media
Relations David
Chatham will lead a discussion on what makes reporters tick. Learn
what reporters care about -- and what they don't care about. This dynamic
discussion will help you determine whether your story has a shot at getting
told.
Dinner will be provided. Please join us for this informative discussion.
Date:
Tuesday, January 13, 2009
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Morrisville Chamber of Commerce
Register by Friday, January 9, 2008: https://www.123signup.com/register?id=zmhsd

Gold Quill Awards
IABC is now accepting entries for the 2009 Gold Quill Awards. Using time-tested
criteria, the awards have established and maintained the world's highest
standard for communications excellence. And yet, every year, deserving
communications work goes unrecognized.
We urge you to consider your work and the work of your colleagues and
clients for entry in the competition. The early-bird deadline for entries
is January 27, 2009, and the final deadline is February 3, 2009.
Each year the Gold Quill Awards competition attracts more than 1,000 entries
from more than 30 countries. The program reviews entries from a variety
of communication disciplines, and from professional communicators ranging
from strategists to tacticians. Winners are chosen by an international
team of judges who evaluate the best examples of thought leadership, strategic
management, creativity, resourcefulness and successful solutions from
around the world.
New for 2009:
- Social Media Category
- A category enhancement to Social Responsibility, which now includes Educational Entertainment
- New mentorship program
